Citizens for Change is about honesty and integrity, not Democrat or Republican.  It is about citizens in our community being treated respectfully and fairly, not burdening them with excessive permits, restrictions, regulations, violations, ordinances, penalties, applications, etc, etc…

Citizens for Change seek to promote candidates for local office who will:

1. Encourage a spirit of nonpartisanship and citizen participation in government while promoting mutual respect for all citizens.

2. Strengthen the town's relationship with ASU, Appalachian Regional Medical Center, and our own County Commissioners.

3. Expedite efforts to extend the greenway trail and expand recreational and social outlets for the well being of all citizens.

4. Encourage water conservation and expand the current storage capacity to provide for the future needs of our growing community.

5. Work to extend city water and sewer services into appropriate areas outside the present town limits in order to protect the environment and relieve pressure on single-family neighborhoods.

6. Draw from the knowledge and experience of the town staff and capable citizens in our community in an effort to reduce the amount of tax dollars wasted on "consultants" and "studies".

7. To encourage all citizens of Boone and the ETJ to attend "town hall meetings" for the sole purpose of listening to citizens concerns, ideas and suggestions.

8. Work to provide a framework for increasing the opportunities for jobs and affordable housing in Boone and the ETJ.

9. Cooperate with the N.C. Department of Transportation and the Watauga County Commissioners to speed up solutions to the traffic problems in and around Boone.

10. Select a panel from a cross section of citizens of Boone and the ETJ who will work with town staff to review town rules and regulations in an effort to reduce the excessive ordinances, permits, and applications. Carefully consider all appointments to the Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment and other town boards to ensure balance and fairness.
