Pam Williamson's Railroad
And you thought we only had one railroad in town.

Over the past ten years local political activist Pam Williamson has been building a railroad. The current railroad workers include: Loretta Clawson, Lynne Mason and Bunk Spann. For this year’s elections, Liz Aycock has been recruited as the new hand on the line. Following are examples of the Williamson Railroad.
In a January 2002 opinion piece in the Watauga Democrat concerning the hiring on
Sam Furgiuele as the town’s attorney, the editorial states, “We feel his appointment
was all too fast, almost like a train rolling through. We hope that what could be
perceived as a railroad job is not an indication of how the new council will conduct
business. We don’t need another railroad running the fourth Thursday night each
month.“A former town councilman is credited with saying, “You are either on Pam’s train,
or you are under it”, referring to the tactics used by the Williamsons to discredit
anyone who opposes their views. Most recently the Williamson Railroad ran over citizens of Boone and the ETJ
during the Viewshed Debacle. With over 400 citizens opposing the regulations at a
public hearing and 1400 protest petitions submitted by affected landowners, Lynne
Mason produced a prepared written statement to respond to the public’s opposition,
thus making clear her predetermined position on the regulations. Pam’s behind
the scenes conducting was evident in this issue as well. In a thinly veiled political
threat, she sent an email to her council members stating, “Let’s be clear, if you fold,
if you do not pass in particular the viewshed regulations...”, “You promised you
would. And I am not the only one counting on you to make good.”
It’s time for Boone to get back on the right track, vote for change on October 9th.
